Material evaluation measurement for quality control management

All our unique analytical measurement instruments are developed based on light-scattering and separating technologies, which have been the technical foundation for Otsuka Electronics and also have been utilized as core technologies for new materials. Otsuka Electronics first tackled the challenge of light-scattering technologies with the development of low-angle laser light scattering equipment used to measure molecular weight distributions in gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Our lineup of products using light-scattering technology represents our longest-lived product category. These analytical products have earned a strong reputation for physical property evaluations of new materials at numerous universities, government research institutes, private and public sectors. With continuing effort to develop various new applications, we have added and expanded our product portfolio including measuring absolute molecular weight, nano-particle size, and zeta potential, in use ranging from basic research to quality control, and are now considered as the sole trustworthy and reliable Japanese company.
For our customer to develop their new materials it is necessary to evaluate the particle size and shapes and analyze under which conditions will make materials the most stable. The most stable condition of materials can be quantified by measuring the zeta potential of particle surfaces.
By adding electrophoresis technologies to the concept of separation analysis accumulated over the years, highperformance capillary electrophoresis (HPCE) has been leading the world in this field. Comparing to other measurement methods, such as high-performance liquid chromatography, ion chromatography, gel electrophoresis and gas chromatography, our HPCE can separate better in less time, analyze with smaller samples, and broaden the possibilities for separation analysis.
Otsuka Electronics also works closely with our customers providing technical support for measurement to solve their problems together.

Nanotechnology: In the spotlight across a wide range of fields

The development of new materials using nanoparticles at the scale of one-billionth of a meter continues to move forward daily. Otsuka Electronics develops our main products applying dynamic light-scattering technologies to measure nanoparticles in fluids. We’re proud to be among the industry’s first to initiate analysis involving the application of this dynamic light-scattering technology to nanoparticles. With rapid growth in the nanomaterials market, the need for physical evaluations of nanomaterials using light-scattering products continues to grow. The shift to nano materials offers vast potential, including new functionality and improvements in the quality of end products. Technologies are advancing not just in nanotechnologies, but in biosciences, highpolymer chemistry, new materials, food products, cosmetics, environmental fields, semiconductors, and medicine. We will continue to deliver highly reliable products and analytical methods that meet customer needs for operational stages ranging from R&D to quality control.
